In the beginning the "ROTER ENGEL" was just a feeling by Michael Satke (owner of the "Reisbar", "First Floor", "Roter Engel" and "Ron con Soda"); a feeling of an idea, a mood, and a will to fill an empty space with music.
Before 1980 the area surrounding the "Ruprechtskirche" was quiet, almost deathly quiet. It was an area mostly used for parking and the silence was only broken by the occasional passing car or moped.
On the 15th May 1980 "Krah Krah" opened followed shortly by "Kaktus" on 13th November 1980. Then on the 20th May 1981 the "ROTER ENGEL" was opened, created as an exact replica of Satke's favourite bar "PUFFY'S" in New York, and the legend was born.
After this several more establishments opened and the "Bermuda Triangle" took shape - an area, loved, hated, hailed, damned, but alive and known by everyone.
